DMS Eigth Grade Parent Meeting
8th Grade Parent Scheduling Night Tuesday, February 19th at 6:30 PM DMS Auditorium
This event is an orientation event for eighth grade parents and students to learn about the class selection and scheduling process at the high school in anticipation of the freshmen year. Teachers from every academic department will be present to help explain the different course options available to incoming freshmen.
Eighth grade students are welcome to attend, however, the FCAHS School Counseling department will be presenting this same information to the 8th grade students at an assembly during Home Base on Friday, March 1st.
Note: In case of inclement weather on Tuesday, February 19th this event will be rescheduled for Wednesday, February 27th.
8th Grade Parent Scheduling Night Agenda
6:30 - 7:00 PM FCAHS teachers from high school departments will be available in the DMS auditorium lobby to answer questions.
7:00 - 7:45 PM Mr. Ben O'Connor, FCAHS School Counselor, will present the high school scheduling process including graduation requirements and course selections in the DMS Auditorium.
7:45 - 8:30 PM FCAHS teachers will continue to be available in the auditorium lobby for parent and student questions.
DMS Security Updates
The district's newly acquired Raptor Visitor Management System will help protect students and staff by tracking visitors, volunteers, and contractors who come into our schools, thus providing a safer and more monitored environment. In addition to visitor management, Raptor will also be used to manage and verify volunteer clearances. Clearances will now be submitted through the Raptor System.

Volunteers with clearances already on file:
Parent volunteers with clearances that were current at the time of the switch have been uploaded into the Raptor System already. The new system will send an email notification 90 days and 30 days prior to your clearance expiration date.
Prospective volunteers will need to submit their clearances via the Raptor System. The district will no longer accept hard copies of clearances, nor emailed clearances.
When submitting clearances through Raptor, the prospective volunteer must have all three clearances ready for upload. All three are required for a successful submission.
Once approved, volunteers will receive an email via Raptor.
The most significant change will be the new timeline for volunteer approval. Clearances will be verified at the beginning of every month AND only once a month. Provided that all information submitted is correct, prospective volunteers can anticipate a 30-60 day waiting period before being approved.
As 2019 kicks off I invite you to check your calendar to see if you can find time to volunteer at the DMS school store. Our kiddos appreciate the opportunity to pick up some supplies and I bet you'll enjoy the opportunity to check out those same kiddos during their day. Volunteer with a friend and you will be winning at scheduling your social time as well!

DMS Spring Sports Update
DMS Athletic Department Physical Due February 22, 2019 Students who are interested in participating in Spring Sports will need to complete and submit an athletic department physical (unless students have already submitted forms for fall sports participation).
