This year all subscribed parents will receive a PTO newsletter once a week, usually on Fridays. We will spotlight PTO events, opportunities to contribute to the PTO, DMS teachers and staff, and DMS special events, programs, and news. If you have any questions about these newsletters, have something to contribute, or know someone who would like to subscribe, please email email@example.com.

Want to Volunteer at DMS This Year?
"Clearances" are necessary to volunteer at PTO sponsored events at the school such as student socials, teacher appreciation luncheons, the turkey trot, and field day, and are also required to work at the school store. You can read more about the requirements on our website, www.dorseyvillepto.org and Dorseyville's website (scroll to the bottom). As of right now, the district is planning to maintain its policy in terms of still needing district-specific clearances even from those who have clearances for other organizations and business sectors. If you already have clearances, keep in mind that they are good for five years.
First Day Back for Teachers Breakfast, 8/22/17
You don't need clearances for this volunteer event! Welcome the teachers back with a light breakfast on their first day. Bake, donate, or help serve the teachers before they head off to a day of learning and meetings. Sign up here!
Grade Level Curriculum Nights
Curriculum Nights give parents and guardians a chance to walk in their student's shoes for a little while. Parents and guardians will first visit their student's home-base teachers and after receiving his or her schedule, will attend a short overview of each of the student's classes. It is a chance to meet your student's teachers and get a quick look at the learning and activities that are planned for the year. This is an event for adults, not students. This years' curriculum nights will take place as follows:
Sixth Grade - Thursday, August 31st, 6:00-8:00 PM
Seventh and Eighth Grade - Thursday, September 7, 6:00-8:00 PM
Please look for a PTO table at these events.
Raffle Baskets Are This Fall's PTO Fundraiser
The DMS PTO will once again be creating raffle baskets as part of our fall fundraising efforts. We hope to have the baskets on display at the High School's Homecoming Carnival in October, as well as at the DMS Musical in November.
We would LOVE to have YOUR help! If you would like to contribute an item for one of our baskets, or would be willing to assist in soliciting donations for the baskets, your aid would be tremendously appreciated! Donations are tax deductible! Please reach out to Kelly DiNatale at firstname.lastname@example.org or (412) 779-5328.
School Store Open Every Day First Two Weeks of School
Your students can purchase gym shirts, available in sizes Youth Large, and Adult Small through Extra Large every day for the first 2 weeks of school (from 10:30 - 1:00 PM), and Tuesdays and Thursdays the rest of the year during lunch periods. The school store carries many student essentials including locks, pencils, notebooks, and a whole lot more. However, the school store will only happen if you sign up to help. . .
We need volunteers (with clearances) to come in to DMS for a couple of hours and run the school store -- that is, pull the merchandise out of the closet, help students find items, and collect their money. It is a very fun way to be involved at DMS and you can do it once or many times. Choose a time to volunteer with a friend and you will have plenty of time to catch up and chat while you visit with students and provide them a great service. Or, make a new acquaintance while being able to subtly check up on your student.
