Thank you and welcome to all the rising 6th grade parents who attended the orientation on Tuesday and signed up to receive this newsletter! We hope you find it useful - with information about what's happening at school, interviews with teachers and staff, parenting information, signups for volunteer opportunities, and more.
We at the DMS PTO look forward to seeing you and working with you over the next several years. If you want to learn more about the PTO, please visit our web page: www.dorseyvillepto.org or visit us on Facebook. If you "Like" our page, your feed will automatically contain any update that we post to our site. We tend to post there in the middle of the week for last-minute reminders and up-to-the-minute news.
We have meetings on the third Wednesday of each month, alternating time and location between morning at school and evening at Panera Bread in the Waterworks Plaza. If you would like to volunteer with the PTO or learn more about it, please write to our president, Veronica Harris at firstname.lastname@example.org.

Teacher Appreciation Week
We have received an excellent response to our plea for volunteers for the Teacher Appreciation Luncheon. There is still time to sign up to help with the Luncheon, which will take place on May 8. Please contact Patty Lee if you have any other ideas or would like to contribute in other ways with teacher appreciation week.
Events Coming Up
Wednesday 5/10 and Friday 5/12: FACS Cafe at DMS 10:25-12:35. Parents, save the date to visit and/ or chaperone. We STILL need two volunteers with clearances each day to escort parents to and from the cafe. Here is the sign up.
Wednesday 5/17: PTO Monthly Meeting at 9:30 AM at DMS
Monday 5/29: No School
Wednesday 5/31: Kennywood Day, dismissal at 11:30
Thursday 6/8: Field Day at DMS 11:15-3:00.
Thanks to those who have signed up to help with Field Day! We still need at least 15 more parents to help monitor students, run various lawn games, help with lunch, and monitor the bounce house. Please sign up here.
If you can spare a couple of hours that day, please come spend it with your middle schooler and friends! (If your middle schooler doesn't want to see you—we know how that can be—we welcome you to volunteer with other grades!)
Clearances are required.
Volunteers are needed from 11:15 AM until 3:00 PM. Activities include a picnic (in front of the school), inflatables and wounded warrior course (baseball side), dance (gym), and talent show (auditorium). In the event of rain, lunch and the dance will be in the cafeteria and inflatables will be in the gym.
Volunteers should arrive by 11:15 to get their starting location, and then will rotate throughout the day.
